Mel Bay Presents Favorite Gospel Tunes for Banjo, by Alan Munde - $14.95 + $2.75 S/H (US only)

Book with CD. Gospel arrangements in tab format only. Alan Munde is one of my favorite banjo players and I recommend any tab that he writes. Always great arrangements that aren't too watered down.

Earl Scruggs and the 5-String Banjo, by Earl Scruggs - $19.95 + $3.75 S/H (US only)

Book only. This is "the" bluegrass banjo book. Probably not the best book to learn to play from for rank beginners, but it is a MUST READ and MUST HAVE for every banjo player's library. This book can also be special ordered with a CD for $34.95, though the CD does not contain the songs in the book, just rolls and other examples played by Earl Scruggs.

Mel Bay Presents Festival Favorites Revisited, by Alan Munde - $12.95 + $2.75 S/H (US only)

Book. I really love this book! Once again, anything written by Alan Munde is going to be good. These are tabs from Alan's CD with the same title. More than one variation for most tunes, and probably not for the beginning banjo player. Tab format only.

Parking Lot Picker's Songbook, by Bill Evans & Bruce Dix. - $34.95 + $3.75 S/H (US only)

BANJO EDITION

Book & 2 CDs. This is a great collection of bluegrass, old time, country and gospel standards (over 225 in all). Simple melodies are presented with standard notation and banjo tablature along with lyrics and chords. Note: The tab is single note melody only, not roll-oriented tab, so these are not suitable for actual banjo breaks. (The tab would be to help learn the melodies of the songs.) There are two CDs included with this spiral-bound songbook that contain snippets of every single song in the book.

Mel Bay's Back-up Banjo, by Janet Davis - $34.99 + $3.75 S/H (US only)

Book with 2 CDs. All types of right and left hand patterns covered, rhythms, and song selections with back-up presented. Very valuable book for ideas. Great detail of practically everything imaginable for playing back-up. Could be a bit overwhelming, but if players learn how to use the ideas in this book a little bit at a time, they will be very well rounded in their knowledge. Great book!
