Used 4/4 Violin/Fiddle Outfit $260 INCLUDES SHIPPING/Insurance (US mainland only)
Reference No. 4278
SOLD! I expect this one to sell quickly! It is made by Kay Instruments - Chicago. I don't know what year, but possibly the 1970's era. It was imported from Taiwan. It features ebony pegs, ebony fingerboard, ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners, plastic chinrest, and upgraded Prelude strings. Body length is 14", with an overall length of 23-1/4".
Overall condition is good. Original varnish is in good condition, with some scratches, dents and dings. Light wear to the edges. Top is fine-grained spruce, with maple back, sides and neck. There are several repaired 1 to 1-3/4" cracks in the top to the left of the bridge on the bass end. See Pic 1. The center seam might have been reglued, but I can't tell. The varnish there is cracked right at the seam, so it looks like it is a crack, but it is not. It is solid. See Pic 1. Purfling is painted on. Flaming on the back and sides is painted on. I would classify this one as medium loud in volume with a full, warm and sweet tone quality. This would be good for any style of music! Highly recommended in this price range!
Comes complete with an older wooden case and cheap student bow.

Vintage Nippon Violin/Fiddle w/hard case $575 INCLUDES SHIPPING/Insurance (US mainland only)
Reference No. 1000
Vintage Nippon, ca. 1920. This instrument features ebony pegs; dyed hardwood fingerboard; ebony tailpiece with four fine tuners; boxwood chinrest;
and upgraded Chromcor strings. The body is 14", with an overall length of 23-1/4".
Overall condition is good. Instrument has been complete revarnished, but a fairly nice job! Very light wear on the edges. There
a 4" repaired crack in the top extending downward from the treble f-hole. The back has been reglued at the end and looks solid, but there is a little bit of excess glue there. No other cracks or repaired cracks. There is a leather strip under the chinrest clamp that is visible in the pictures. I believe it was put there to keep the chinrest tool from scratching the ribs, but I don't really know. It can be easily removed. Top is very fine-grained spruce, and it has a beautifully flamed maple back, sides and neck. I would classify this one as medium loud to loud in volume. It has a slightly deep, warmer tone quality. Very forgiving tone would make it great for a beginning student of any type of music! Please note: This instrument is on consignment here and is not eligible for return or trade-in. Please call or e-mail if you have questions!
Includes a nice ABS (hard) case, but no bow.
